Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP)

While kynect health coverage has offered Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) coverage to employers in the past, Anthem, the current issuer, will no longer offer SHOP health or dental plans through the Marketplace.

Effective immediately, employers will no longer be able to enroll in new plans through SHOP.

Small businesses are encouraged to work directly with Anthem. Employers may also work with a licensed insurance agent or broker to identify alternative group coverage options that best meet their business needs. Current enrollees will see no disruption in services or coverage during this transition. This change does not affect individual health or dental plans available through kynect health coverage.

Tax credits may be available for businesses who had SHOP coverage in Tax Year 2025 or Tax Year 2026.

Employers can no longer apply and enroll in SHOP coverage in Kentucky. Employees and/or their spouse/dependents who are not offered insurance through work may still be eligible for Individual Qualified Health Plans with Financial Assistance depending on their income and tax household size.
