How to become a Qualified Entity

Learn how to become a Presumptive Eligibility (PE) Entity, including eligibility requirements, the application process, and the onboarding steps. This section provides guidance for hospitals and pregnancy determiners looking to participate in the PE program.

Requirements to participate

Hospital Qualified Entities:

The State must certify any eligible hospital that elects to participate in the Hospital-Based PE Program.


Pregnancy Qualified Entities:

Types of providers permitted by the state to serve are qualified providers

  • Family and general practitioners
  • Pediatricians
  • Internists
  • Obstetricians and/or Gynecologists
  • Physician assistants
  • Certified nurse midwives
  • Advanced practice registered nurses
  • Federally Qualified Health Care Centers
  • Primary Care Centers
  • Rural Health Clinics
  • Local Health Departments
